Prime Minister Harper promises funding for Toronto’s Smart Track plan

June 18, 2015:  Prime Minister Stephen Harper was in town, speaking at the TTC’s Hillcrest facility, just north of the University-Rosedale riding.   Along with Finance Minister, Toronto MP Joe Oliver, he announced up to $2.6 Billion support for funding Mayor John Tory’s visionary cross-municipality SmartTrack transit system.   Toronto will benefit tremendously from this infrastructure investment, among the largest federal government infrastructure investments ever announced, part of the new Public Transit Fund created by the federal government to improve transit in urban areas across Canada, and part of the  New Canada Building Plan, the largest and longest federal commitment to public infrastructure in Canadian history .

Our candidate Karim Jivraj was there for the announcement along with other Toronto MPs and candidates. Toronto is strongly represented by the CPC in Parliament and in cabinet – let’s keep that representation strong in Election 2015!
