Canada is the most admired country in the world

A decade of Stephen Harper and the CPC in power, and Canada is most admired and perceived as having the best reputation in the world among the world’s top 55 wealthiest nations.   So pass this information on to your friends and family, and don’t listen to the anti-Harper and anti-Conservative nay-sayers who want to return this country to the dark days of Trudeau and Chretien.

Here’s another lie the anti-Conservative media love to spread – “income disparity has increased” under Stephen Harper.  Well, facts are stubborn things as they say, and here are some facts:   Statistics Canada has released a report showing that income inequality has actually fallen in Canada during the Harper era.

Quoting from this report, note that “The top 1% [income earners] held 10.3% of total income in 2012, down from 10.6% in 2011, and well below the historical peak of 12.1% reached in 2006 [after a decade of Liberal power].   While the CPC governed Canada, the share of the top 5% of taxfilers declined from 25.1% in 2006 to 23.6% in 2012, while the share of the top 10% of taxfilers fell from 36.1% to 34.9% during the same period.

The six-year period between 2006 and 2012 also marked, for the first time since 1982, a prolonged period in which the total income shares of the bottom 90%, 95% and 99% of Canadian taxfilers rose or stabilized.

This is in contrast to the US, where the income share of the top 1% increased from 18.0% in 2006 to 19.3% in 2012.

Another  thought to ponder… what has happened to the threat of Quebec separatism since Stephen Harper has come into power? Poof! It’s vanished.  The decades long Liberal policies on the Quebec separatism file were totally wrong, and the CPC approach is the right one.

We welcome more examples (with documentation) of how Canada has done well under Stephen Harper.  If you want to contribute, please email them to us and maybe we can put them on the EDA web site.

Team Karim Picnic at Christie Pits

A big thank you! to Karim’s team (“Team Karim”) for all their hard work.  These young Conservatives  are out there, every single day,  knocking on doors and spreading the word.  They’ve already covered over 2/3 of the riding.

We had a fun picnic at Christie Pits park to thank them this weekend.

John Baird at University-Rosedale July 15th

The Honourable John Baird and our candidate Karim Jivraj

The Honourable John Baird, former MP, former President of the Treasury Board, former Minister of the Environment, former Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, and most recently former Minister of Foreign Affairs came to the gracious home of John and Nancy McFadyen to rally the troops and support Karim Jivraj’s candidacy in the coming election. Nancy and John’s organizational and hosting skills once again shone through.  We got to meet and talk to a man who has been an integral part of Canadian and international politics in the past decade, and share in some unique insights.  Truly a special evening, under a bright afternoon sun in a wonderful setting.
